- Academic Geography Night for All SSA Families - 09/27/2018 - 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Our first family groups of the year was all about friendship. The eighth grade family group leaders read the fable of the lion and the mouse. The leaders taught their family groups all about being a friend to others.
Our fifth graders are learning about explorers from the 1400’s who sailed on ships called ‘carracks’. They had to create their own carrack ship with two square rigged sails, two lateen triangular sails, a crows nest, rudder, and two decks. The last criteria was that their carrack had to float!

Next Thursday, September 20, Our Lady of Peace Academy is sponsoring renowned author, Jessica Lahey, who has written the New York Times Best Seller book called...Congratulations to 8th grader Esteban Murillo, who placed 1st on the state level essay, and 6th grader Hanna Williams, who placed 3rd on the state level essay in the Junior Catholic Daughters of the Americas essay contest. We are so proud of their great writing efforts!!!

Mrs. Kanzius delivered 3 swallowtail butterflies to our classroom today (which we released!) as well as many many caterpillars! It was a special treat to see all stages today.. the egg, the different stages of a caterpillar, a chrysalis, and the butterfly!! We look forward to watching the process over and over again as our “babies” grow up and transform into butterflies!
