A committee undertook this project because Santa Sophia
spends around $60,000 to $72,000 per year ($5,000 to $6,000 per month) on electricity. The total cost is $402,732 and it includes the entire system and installation on three of the school rooftops. A former parishioner generously bequeathed the parish a generous gift upon his death and it will cover 50% of the cost to install panels. The remaining 50% ($201,366) will need to be generated by the parish. I will be sending a letter to all our registered families explaining the process and cost of the project. God gives to us because He loves us and trusts that we will share our blessings with others. So, if anyone is looking for a cause, I believe contributing to the parish’s solar project is a good cause. It can save our parish a lot of money, almost $5,000 a month. The savings from the solar system will allow the parish to initiate much-needed new programs, provide maintenance of our facilities and pay staff salaries.
