Happy “Fat Tuesday”, Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday, “Pancake Day” and Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus Whew! It’s a big day!

This morning at Assembly we celebrated Fat Tuesday! Many students wore masks and Mardi Gras colors. We even listed to some Jazz music! We talked about how to select your Lenten sacrifice. The students were guided to find one way that they could further develop their relationship with God. We talked about attending Mass, because they want to, not because they were told. We talked about doing additional acts of service in place of giving something up.
Today is the Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus. This feast had it’s beginnings during Christ’s Passion, making it one of the oldest devotions. St. Veronica wiped the face of Jesus on the way to His Crucifixion. This act of compassion was rewarded by the impression of His holy face on her veil. This veil can be seen today in the Basilica of St. Peter in Rome.
