Happy Tuesday!
This Sunday was the Fourth Sunday of Lent also known as Laetare Sunday. Laetare means to rejoice. We are rejoicing because we are almost to Easter. You could compare this to the 3rd Sunday of Advent or the Joy Sunday. This week the Gospel reading was the Parable of the Prodigal Son. We are very familiar with this parable, but in the homily, we were called to think of times when we had been each of the three main characters. I found this to be a poignant exercise since we have been, at different times in our lives, all three. It helped to provide a new perspective. In the end, we are called to be like the Father, forgiving and merciful.
One of the ways we prepare during Lent is to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Santa Sophia will be hosting a Penance service this Wednesday at 7pm. There will be about 8 priests available during the service. If you can’t make it this Wednesday check the bulletin for other parishes hosting penance services.
Another way to prepare during Lent is to participate in the Stations of the Cross. The Santa Sophia Youth Group will be hosting the Living Stations drive Through on April 2nd and 3rd from 6-8pm. If you haven’t been, I highly recommend it. Parents, I will be teaching 6-8 ELA until we can find a teacher. This means I will not be available during the day for meetings or as quick to respond to emails. Please be patient.
We are looking for a Junior High ELA Teacher. If you know of someone that is available, please have them email their resume to kklant@santasophiaacademy.org.
