|Happy Third Week of Advent, Gaudete Sunday. This week we celebrate Joy. The joy of the birth of Christ and the salvation that his birth brings for all Christians. We also celebrate the fact that we are almost to the end of Advent. We are like children at Christmas, the waiting is difficult. |
Today is the Feast of St. Lucy. She was a Martyr and her name is listed in the cannon of the Mass. She is known for her chastity and serving the persecuted Christians in the catacombs. If you have seen a picture of St. Lucy she is usually wearing a wreath with candles on her head or with her eyes on a tray. She is the Patron Saint of eye problems and the blind.
I came across a quote the other day that paired beautifully with the purpose of Advent.
“Each of us is an Inn Keeper who decides if there is room enough for Jesus.” I found this quote to be powerful because we must first empty our hearts of the earthly things and sin that weigh us down to make room for Jesus so that we are not like the innkeepers who turned away Mary and Joseph and said there was no room at the inn.
From all of us at SSA, we wish your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Tonight’s PTG Meeting has been Cancelled. The next meeting will be January 10th. Christmas Program
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Christmas Program Friday from 10-12. In addition to your children singing, there will be games, coffee and hot chocolate and cookie decorating.
This is a half day and the last day of school before Christmas break. There will be NO EDC that afternoon!
If you haven’t signed up to volunteer there is still time! Just contact your room mom.
Christmas Shoppe The Christmas Shoppe was very successful. The kids had a wonderful time picking out items for their loved ones. There are still a few items on backorder. As soon as they come in we will give them to your child.
