SSA is proud to offer opportunities for students to develop their talents through performing arts. We have several choirs, a glee club, instrument instruction and have one drama production per year.


English Handbell Choirs
Handbell Choirs are offered for grades 7-8 throughout the year and for grade 6 in the Spring. Under the instruction of Mrs. Croff, students learn how to use English handbells to create recognizable music through the coordinated ringing of melodies and harmonies. Performances include a Winter and Spring Concert and Special Events
7/8 Choirs Practice Tues or Thurs 3-4 p.m.
Grade 6/7/8 Choir Practice Wed 3-4 p.m.
Academy Liturgical Choir
Under the direction of Mrs. Ballon, the Academy Choir provides music for all school Masses. Limited space is available for students in grades 4-8.
Rehearsals on Thursdays 1:45 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. during the school year.
SSA Glee Club
The Glee Club is a group of students that sings in service and fun at concerts, events, for the school and community.
The club is for students from Grades 3-8 and runs throughout the school year.

Santa Sophia Kid’s Chorale (Parish Choir)
The Kids Chorale is offered for children in grades 3-8 and sings on the Last Sunday of the Month at 11AM Mass, Christmas Eve at 3:30 PM Mass, Easter Sunday at 11:00 AM Mass and invitational parish and sometimes off campus events.

Students from grades TK-8 are invited to participate in a production held once a year. Roles will be assigned per appropriate age level. This year the students preformed “ANNIE”. 

Music Instruction

Music classes are offered to 6th grade students for the recorder and to students in 7th grade for the guitar. School music instruction is counted towards the student’s music grade. After-school piano lessons are offered by Joe Cromwell. Contact the school for more information at (619) 463-0488.
