Dear Parishioners and Families of Santa Sophia,
My name is Kristin KlantI am honored to have been selected as Principal of Santa Sophia Academy. I look forward to joining such a vibrant, faith- filled community.
Raised in a military family with my father serving in the Navy, family, faith, and Catholic education were constant in my life. During our first tour in San Diego, my family joined St. Patrick’s Parish where I am still an active member. I serve as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, a Confraternity of Catholic Doctrine teacher, and choir member.
I was blessed to attend Catholic School throughout my academic life including St. Patrick School and The Academy of Our Lady of Peace in San Diego. I then, attended Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and a credential to teach K-6. While living in North Carolina I taught grades 1-4.
When my family was transferred back to San Diego, I decided to join them. I taught at St. Charles Catholic School in Imperial Beach for nine years. In addition, I completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and a Clear California Multiple Subject Credential. I was then offered a position in Leadership at Our Lady of Grace School as the Vice Principal. I also created the Learning Support program. The program benefited every student in the school, providing lessons to aid students through support or extension. During my four years at Our Lady of Grace, I completed the Preliminary Administrative Service Credential program at the University of San Diego, as well as my Clear Administrative Service Credential.
My passion is to work with educators and families to create a faith-filled environment where students feel safe, loved, and experience a multitude of learning opportunities.
I am so grateful to my parents for making Catholic education a priority and helping me to see how important it is to plant the seeds of knowledge and faith for future generations. It is so gratifying to see the support and sacrifices that parents and parishioners make to enrich the educational experience of the students of Santa Sophia Academy. I look forward to working together to build the legacy of Santa Sophia Academy.
Yours in Christ,
Kristin Klant
